Content Management (CMS) / Update It Yourself
Updating a website should be as natural as sending an email or changing your Facebook profile. The web was never meant to be static - so why should you be forced to wait for the web designer in order to make an update?
A User-Friendly System
In recognising the importance of empowering Clients with the ability to update their own web sites, we set out to develop a system that met a certain acceptance criteria:
- that it should be really easy to use
- that it offers the client the best platform for growing in any direction they like, beit for example e-commerce or community interaction
- that we could offer all of the above at a reasonable cost
We have developed a solution that hits the perfect balance - a system that offers you the price advantage of open-source software with the features of a bespoke system. Harnessing the popular content management system (CMS) Drupal, we have developed it further to make it really easy to use.
Unobtrusive User Interface
Many content management systems often fall down on usability. Upon logging in, they whisk you away to an administration area that is both unwieldy and unfamiliar. Not so with us.
We provide you with a personal login. Upon logging in via a hidden page, you are returned to the same website. However there are two small differences only seen by you:
- Above your website 'floats' a simple admin bar, developed in-house by Stem Pixel. This provides you with buttons to administer your site, such as 'New Page' and 'Menu'.
- Inline with your pages are small 'View/Edit' buttons that let you switch between the two modes.
Together with many other nuances developed by us, we think we have struck an excellent balance to give you both power and ease of use. Below we illustrate a couple of aspects of the system.
Word Processing
When logged in as administrator and you have selected to create or edit a page, you are presented with a number of options to complete, such as page title and body.
The illustration below shows the built-in word processor. This offers the familiar 'Word'-style interface and allows you to format text, upload images, create links and more in different regions of the page.
We offer training on how to use the editor. Additionally we provide guidance on how to write for the web to make your website more usable for your visitor and optimised for search engines such as Google.
Intuitive Menu
The illustration below shows the 'Menu' panel for controlling the logical ordering and nesting of your page links in the navigation menus.
Relocating a page in your website is simply a matter of dragging its corresponding cross-hair up/down to change its order, or left/right to alter its nesting.
